Aphelion is a cutting-edge weather forecast visualization platform, developed by SOLUTE, and designed to be user-friendly, complete, and unique. Our goal is to provide the best forecast platform services, with the aim to come up with more functionalities. Intended to be used by anyone, it provides an accurate weather forecast, which can be easily viewable through a pull-down meteogram. The display of a multi-view map with different atmospheric variables is also available for those with an interest in meteorology. Aphelion has been developed by meteorologists, data scientists, and software engineers, making up a team that is specialized on the development of meteorology and big data-based tools. It provides up to 16 days of forecast all over the world using two global models: GFS and GPS; and up to 72 hours by means of a regional model developed by SOLUTE, called Aphelion WRF, with 9km of resolution, thought to be centered in the Iberian Peninsula. The capability of visualizing each variable in different levels (when possible, for example: temperature, wind or pressure) and comparing up to four combinations of the same variable on different levels or times, or different variables (combinations aren’t restricted), makes Aphelion a powerful tool in order to investigate not only the present state of the atmosphere, but also its evolution up to next 16 days. The combination of this representation of variables and the possibility of activating particles movement provides the user with complete and detailed information on the atmospheric conditions and its evolution.
